What is the NSBA?
NSBA: The National Street Basketball Association is a professional basketball organization, which provides amateur and professional athletes with opportunities to improve and showcase their basketball skills and compete professionally on a national level.
What does the NSBA hope to accomplish by starting a basketball pro-league?
NSBA: The league will promote basketball as a positive alternative to drugs, destructive leisure time activities and violence. We will encourage participation in the sport as a means of staying physically fit to decrease obesity among both youth and adults. We will increase the number of opportunities for athletes to succeed at the sport and compete professionally, and further use basketball as a vehicle to uplift communities worldwide.
How many teams will participate in the league?
NSBA: As of right now, we have six (6) major cities participating and look forward to increasing that number to 32 teams (8 teams per division) including international teams by 2010 when the league begins.
Where will league games be held?
NSBA: League games will be held at various City/State Universities and other basketball venues to be announced.
Is the NSBA similar to AND 1?
NSBA: No, we are a professional basketball league organization with four (4) team member divisions competing for a 1st Place, NSBA Championship spot.
Will NSBA league games be featured on TV/Cable?
NSBA: Yes. We will partner with a major TV network that shares in our vision and promotes basketball.
Does the NSBA plan to have a Pro-Women’s league?
NSBA: Yes, we have a plan in place starting 2012; the NSBA Pro-Women’s league will begin.
Why did the NSBA incorporate an International Division?
NSBA:We believe in providing athletes with an equal opportunity to participate in our league. Many of these basketball organizations overseas who recruit athletes from the United States are reputable, professional and can offer these athletes not only a good salary but a high level of competition and we want to include these organizations and athletes so we can provide the basketball fan with game excitement and the athlete with his/her greatest challenge yet. For instance, think back to the excitement and competitiveness you felt watching the USA Olympics. Furthermore, by adding an International Division, the NSBA member league teams provide businesses, sponsors with a cross over market to promote and advertise their products and services globally, which further brings another stream of revenue.
How will this league benefit communities globally?
NSBA: By bringing together a league team to represent their city, the communities will have commonality and be unified to support not only the league team but also each other and this will prayerfully decrease negativity within the communities. These communities will learn more about the history of basketball through which “Street ball” gave its beginning. In addition, communities will be entertained and those athletes up and coming will be inspired to succeed and become role models for the next generation of basketball professionals.
How will the NSBA stimulate the economy?
NSBA: Since each participating city will be a premier location, the NSBA league member team representing their city in addition to other city competing rivals will attract and draw tourists from around the world to visit and buy into NSBA’s vision of basketball being a past time favorite and thereby increase revenues for that city.
Where did the league get its name?
NSBA: The President and founder Kim Champion, wanted a name that athletes would be able to identify with its origin and the endless possibilities of where basketball could now take them.
What are two (2) long-term goals for the NSBA?
NSBA: A Pro-Women’s Basketball League, and Interleague Exhibition Game with the National Basketball Association.
What opportunities does the NSBA offer athletes?
NSBA: Try-out opportunities to compete professionally, exposure, benefits and a great experience. In addition, the league offers amateur athletes training camps, and clinics to help them stay physically fit, build and refine their basketball skills.
What is the Pro-Ball Classic? How does this tourney connect with the NSBA?
NSBA: The Pro-Ball Classic is an Unlimited Pro nationwide tourney created by our organization to recruit basketball cities and potential athletes for league expansion.
What kind of community initiatives will the NSBA conduct?
NSBA: The NSBA will promote academic, athletic and fundraising initiatives throughout communities globally.
